About Mercy Train

B.I.B.L.E (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth)

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success”. Joshua 1:8

Mercy Train’s Mission:

To bring and spread the good news of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and to let people know in these suffering times that there is a Gracious, Merciful God who loves each and everyone of them and wants none to perish, but all to be called to His purpose and saved by His grace. Romans 8:28.

Mercy Train’s Vision:

To see the blessings and miracles of God manifested through the bands music, membership and message and to build a ministry that is honouring to the Most High and that changes the hearts of those who are willing to receive the gifts that God's grace awards.

One word comes to mind to describe this band: “Struggle”. It has been a hard track for Mercy Train to stay on over the last 6 years. The band started out strong with their self titled first release but was shortly forgotten and somewhat swept under the Christian music scene rug only to reappear several years later to begin working on their first full length release they hope to be finished by the end of February of 2010. The band has struggled with its membership over the years. They have struggled with direction, leadership, focus, time management, songwriting, and most of all the question of “who they really are”. Jamie Prokop, son of Skip Prokop would be the first to tell you that he had no great answers for these missing links. “I just couldn’t tell people straight out about who we were and what we stood for”. I would be praying about the struggles the band was going through and yet I knew I wasn’t ready myself to accept the responsibility of Faith and what being a Christian was really all about. I went a long time without hearing God’s voice or feeling His presence in my life, but all due to the fact that I would not accept the challenge to walk in His will and do the things that He was asking of me.” Jamie’s life changed when he decided that he could no longer let the band stay in this motionless and empty state. It was time to change before the band collapsed. “It was just before Christmas 2009 that I got down on my knees and prayed to the Lord to take away my will and that His will be done in my life fully and completely”. I knew that I did not have the strength to reach out to God so I asked Him to reach out to me and pull me back. I was ready to make a drastic change in my life and go against everything I had been surrounded by. I was no longer just going to do what the world wanted. I was ONLY going to do what God had always intended for me to do.”

Mercy Train is made up of four very strong-willed Christian gentlemen: JAMIE PROKOP, SKIP PROKOP, RYAN ETHIER, and SCOTT MASON. This band of brothers and Doers of the Faith, are going stronger than ever before and have all accepted their roles and paths laid before each of them. There is what seems to be an unbreakable fellowship and a strong ministry afoot in the band. “We are ready to go out and share what we have been given from our Father to the masses. We are ready to lay it all on the line to honour our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ”, says frontman Jamie Prokop. “We are all sinners, but that does not mean that we just throw in the towel and accept our inadequacies. We are called to a higher purpose, but it is always a choice to accept that purpose or to discard it for a worldly possession or viewpoint. That is not Mercy Train; We accept the challenge put before us and believe that God will bless, lead and protect our way.”

WORDS WE LIVE BY:

"Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." - Romans 5:2-5

“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9.

“For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. Jeremiah 29:11.

The members of Mercy Train are no-nonsense individuals who have an unrelenting passion for music and will not compromise either their faith or their chosen styles of music when it comes to experimenting with different genres and flavours of our musical culture. They just want to be able to honour God with their gifts and express themselves and pay tribute to all those that influenced their musical stylings and sound over a vast amount of time collectively. MERCY TRAIN is currently working on a full length CD of original compositions and has been building a sound that is both faith-filled and soulful and lacks nothing short of perfection. Their blend of Acoustic & Electric tones will stretch the boundaries of any listener.
